What is it?

Have an idea how Singapore can create better food? If you have ideas about how to increase local food production, healthier options at mealtime, minimising food loss/waste or creating better ways for us to consume and package our food, we want to hear from you!

The Big Foodivate Challenge is a student pitch competition where we look for the best ideas from young local talent to help Singapore achieve its 30 by 30 goal to 30% food security by 2030.

The Challenge will be held in two rounds:

Initial applications will have their applications evaluated by the team at Big Idea Ventures then the Top 3 finalists in each category will move forward for live judging via our inaugural event.

The Three Categories for your ideas


  • How can we work together to meet the world's protein needs without costing the planet?
  • What cell-based, plant-based or fermentation-based alternative products and technologies can you imagine and create?


SHIOK MEATS: Cell based meat and seafood alternatives.
AQUA CULTURED FOODS: Whole muscle cut seafood created through microbial fermentation.
KARANA: Plant based meat alternatives
ANGIE'S TEMPEH: Reinventing tempeh, with unique product skews and substrates


  • Functional foods provide health benefits, beyond their basic nutritional value.
  • How can novel foods and ingredients play a role in functional nutrition? Can we use novel foods to sustainably combat disease?


Let us know how to improve the functional nutrition of plant-based foods targeted at reducing chronic disease risk (such as cancer, CVD, diabetes) or supporting immunocompromised patients/subjects.
