Carsten has previously worked as Scientific Director & Innovation Manager for one of the leading producers of tailor-made ingredient systems for plant-based meat alternatives.
He is an expert on hydrocolloids and functional food systems and has supported customers in recipe optimization and new product development all over the world.
Carsten holds a PhD and MSc degree in Food Chemistry from the University of Hamburg. Previous to his industry career, he has worked in academic research projects in Germany, China and Canada.
