“AIthough I left University as an Engineer, my career as a Product Manager and Marketer helped me realise that I get the most joy commercialising products with impact. It’s a delight to see customers thankful for a solution you’ve created.
After 17yrs in corporate roles that spanned the globe, I was yearning for a faster-pace and to work on something more personally meaningful. Founding my own company had always been at the back of my mind.
During a networking session 2 years ago, I met a founding member of the company who shared with me the research on leaf protein being the most abundant protein on Earth. It led me to investigate our current food systems and question its #sustainability. I’ve developed food intolerances as an adult so was already a very conscious consumer – always flipping the pack to read the ingredient list to decipher its origins and nutritional value.
The turning point for me to start The Leaf Protein Co. was finding out the real lack of biodiversity in our food system. The tremendous impact this has on the nutritional value of our food and global food security is completely at odds with the massive variety of plants Mother Nature offers. Recognising this, and together with my background in turning technical ideas into commercial reality, is what now drives my and the company’s mission to reintroduce biodiversity by building out a library of #plantproteins from different leaf sources.”
