Our CEO, Kesha Stickland, adopted a plant-based diet 5 years ago to manage several health conditions and experienced the healing power first-hand. She fell in love with fermentation and #mushroom growing after turning to mushrooms to replace meat in her family’s diet.
She spent the next 2 years working with her husband and Co-Founder, Dan Gardner, to turn her hobby into a patent-pending technology that transforms mushrooms and upcycled plant proteins into a flexible ingredient platform. The platform can be used to create a variety of clean-label beef, pork, and chicken alternatives. This inspired the couple to leave their careers in high-tech (software) to create a new kind of meat alternative using old-school tech (fungi).
The two share more than 40 years of collective experience leading the development of technology products. They’re also both trained in plant-based nutrition and mushroom cultivation..”
