The Big Idea Food Competition (BIFC) kickstarted this September as an initiative that was focused on building new entrepreneurial ecosystems, identifying world-class talent and investing in future of food entrepreneurs across Asia. Spanning across Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, China, Korea and Japan, each country will have 5 plant-based and fermentation-based startups competing for a spot in the finals.
The finals will take place in April 2023. Winners from each country will pitch, present their products, and prepare tasting for the panel of judges and experts from the industry. Startups will be judged on their business pitch and the quality of their culinary application of product.
The first round of the compettion was held in Singapore, at FHA Food & Beverage event at the Singapore Expo! This event was a great opportunity for our 5 startups competing in this round to get a chance to gain insight, network with and pitch their companies to leading corporates, investors and food experts within the alternative protein space in Asia
Following Singapore, we had 3 virtual sessions held in Japan, South Korea and Thailand! The events were a great success and saw 15 companies across all countries pitch their innovative products to an esteemed panel of judges.
The winners for these session so far are:
From Singapore – Vitality Foods: They are creating meal replacement powder mixes as a ready-to-use solution to make nutrition, health and immunity accessible to seniors!
From Japan – Soycle: a company developing their own plant-based meat from soybean!
From Korea – Wemeet: They have developed plant-based Korean Fried Chicken with original & mandarin sauces
From Thailand – Exx: a company developing plant-based eggs using rice bran!
The BIFC continues with the 5th round happening in Indonesia! Stay tuned for the latest developments!
